If the price were right would that be as good a buy as a new 300? What would be considered a good price? Would I regret not getting a 300 vs a 250/230? I'm about 6' and about 225 naked. Bike would be used on dirt roads and street. No real technical riding. There is also a '08 CRF230l about an hour and a half from me for $2800. Should that be a contender? EDIT 230l is sold. I guess that was a good price as it sold quickly. Get the like new 250. It's a couple hp different than the 300, otherwise same/same. At your height and size It's a better fit than a 230 Price is key. The klx300 is great, but I have no idea compared to the 250. The 300 may have a little better resale if needed. My observations so far, the KLX felt cheesier and "cheaper" than the Honda. To my surprise, I felt most comfortable on the XT250. Try this review of the xt250. Also he does one on budget small cc dual sports. I still highly recommend the klx. Has best suspension in my mind. markk53 jack of all trades...
